Sandrine Bergès has been awarded a prestigious British Academy Global Professorship to carry out research in the Department of Philosophy at the University of York (UK). During her research leave from Bilkent she will be working on new project which focuses on the abolitionist debates of the early modern and enlightenment periods in France and Britain. She will recover the marginalized voices that constituted an important part of those debates: Black men and women, white women, and members of religious minorities. Professor Bergès is one of eight awardees.
